Christmas message

2021 has been a year of challenges met, and challenges overcome.

Industry has adapted to a once-in-a-century pandemic transforming our work practices.

And Defence has adapted too, to help keep the wheels of defence industry turning, and to keep Australians in jobs.

Over the course of this year, we have persevered with our package of reforms to support our defence industry, so that in the long term we have a much stronger local industry, capable of supporting our men and women in uniform.

Throughout 2021, I visited many, many Australian businesses looking to enter into, or to expand their footprint in, our defence industry.

I continue to be impressed by the capability, determination, and pride shown by these businesses in their support of our ADF.

The development of our defence industry is firmly heading in the right direction. And for that, we can thank the leadership, skills, and hard work of our Defence officials.

But we cannot rest on our laurels. More needs to be done.

As we close out the year, I want to say I look forward to continuing to work with you to improve Defence procurement, innovation, and support to our defence industry in 2022.

Thank you for your work and dedication to this great sector, and I wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
