The Morrison Government has released a plan that provides important guidance to test and evaluate equipment and systems for the Australian Defence Force.
Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price said the Test, evaluation, certification and systems assurance Sovereign Industrial Capability Priority Implementation Plan would support and grow specialist expertise in Australia’s defence industry.
Minister Price said the new Implementation Plan was a vital element of Defence’s understanding and management of its capability.

The first seven recipients of the Australian Government’s largest individual defence industry grants program were announced today. Minister for Defence Industry, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC said the recipients would benefit from a $2.6 million investment from the $17 million Sovereign Industrial Capability Priority Grants program.

Images of space from the Space Surveillance Telescope in remote Western Australia have been captured, marking a significant milestone for the Defence space project.
The first pictures from the joint Australia-United States space facility at Exmouth on WA’s Coral Coast follows its reassembly in a purpose-built facility, complete with a 270-tonne rotating dome.

The Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, today announced a $200-million sustainment contract with Northrop Grumman Australia which will ensure ongoing jobs for at least 40 Australian workers.
Minister Pyne said the contract is for Through Life Support Services to Defence’s newly acquired C-27J Spartan aircraft fleet.
“Not only will this contract provide jobs for workers at RAAF Base Richmond and RAAF Base Amberley, it will also develop Australian industry capabilities in support of the Spartan into the future,” Minister Pyne said.

The command of SASR will be elevated to a Colonel (O6) position from a Lieutenant Colonel (O5) position to ensure sufficient capacity and appropriate oversight for the complex missions SASR is expected to perform in the future.
