I am pleased to announce that $5 million is available in the latest round of the Skilling Australia’s Defence Industry (SADI) initiative that has opened today. The SADI Programme is designed to boost the essential skills of workers in the defence industry sector.
This is yet another example of the Abbott Government recognising the significant value to our nation of having a workforce that supports the ADF. We are committed to working closely with Australian industry to bring about a safer and more secure Australia.
I encourage companies to take advantage of this excellent opportunity that will continue to boost Australia’s defence industry skills base. The SADI Programme works toward increasing the number of qualified engineers, technicians, tradespeople and project managers in the defence industry.
I am pleased to announce that the programme will be delivered online through Business.gov.au, providing simple and convenient access to Government services for business.

The Abbott Government is prepared to invest in the skills and knowledge base of the defence industry. We are prepared to commit to long-term investment to make sure this important industry enjoys a future in Australia and these critical skills are maintained.
