To commemorate 45 years of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA), the Defence Ministers reaffirmed respective member nations’ commitment to the FPDA and its importance in enhancing regional cooperation and security.

India’s Minister of Defence, Manohar Parrikar, hosted the Australian Minister for Defence, Kevin Andrews, in New Delhi on 2 September 2015 to discuss issues of shared strategic interest and the current state of the bilateral defence relationship.
Building on the personal relationship of Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Abbott, I am pleased to visit India for the first time as Australia’s Defence Minister. India is the emerging democratic super power of Asia. It is therefore sensible that the relationship between India and Australia be developed and strengthened.

The Government is disappointed by this decision taken by BAE but has no control over the commercial decisions of companies such as BAE.
