On behalf of the Australian Government, I wish to express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of this young soldier who sacrificed his life for this country.
I want to assure his family that they will have the Australian Government and the Australian Defence Force’s continued support and assistance as they absorb this heartbreaking news and as they grieve.
I also ask all Australians to take a moment to think of this soldier’s mates still serving in Afghanistan. They will be feeling his loss deeply.
As this brave soldier has done, our people in the Australian Defence Force continue to do outstanding work in a very demanding and dangerous environment.
They deserve our highest praise.
