Australian Defence Force personnel deployed to the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) have gone “pink” in support of the McGrath Foundation ‘Pink Stumps Day 2012’.
Our ADF personnel based at Al Minhad Airbase, Tarin Kot, Qatar, Kandahar Air Field, Kabul and onboard HMAS Parramatta ‘stumped up’ on Saturday 18 February, to show their support for the McGrath Foundation.
Pink Stumps Day is an initiative of Cricket Australia and the McGrath Foundation and is proudly supported by the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
The ADF has a long history of supporting worthwhile charities and causes. The ADF has been able to continue that legacy by supporting the McGrath Foundation and hosting a Pink Stumps Day in the Middle East.
Pink Stumps Day in the MEAO has been spearheaded by the Force Communication Unit 6 (FCU-6) based in Kandahar. The Pink Stumps Day events held across the MEAO have raised $8,500 of their target of $10,000 in donations.
Funds raised on Pink Stumps Day go to the McGrath Foundation to help place breast cancer nurses in communities across Australia, as well as increase breast awareness in young Australian women.
