The professionalism, skill and expertise of the personnel in the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and the Royal Australian Air Force will be on show this weekend as part of the 183rd Royal Hobart Regatta.
Minister for Defence Personnel Darren Chester said more than 260 Australian Defence Force members would be in Hobart showcasing a variety of roles and capabilities.
“Our ADF personnel are a big part of our community and I am proud that all three services will be supporting the Royal Hobart Show,” Mr Chester said.
“This year’s event will see the amazing aerobatic skills of our RAAF roulettes who will conduct a number of flying displays above the Derwent River and City of Hobart.
“Members of our Army band and Navy band will be keeping crowds entertained with some of the great Aussie classics as well as some of the latest hits.
“And for only the second time, the city of Hobart namesake, the Navy’s Guided Missile Destroyer HMAS Hobart will anchor in the Derwent River near Ross Point.
“Defence’s participation in this year’s event is a great opportunity to highlight the values and professionalism of the men and women who serve Australia.
“Hobart has a proud and long military history and the ADF is proud to support this great community event.”
The Roulettes will perform three low-level aerobatic displays over three days, and a P-8A Poseidon aircraft will conduct a flypast.
