The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator David Feeney, has congratulated the four employers recognised last night for their outstanding support of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and its Reserve forces.
The event, organised by the Defence Reserves Support Council for the Northern Territory/Kimberley region (DRSC NT/K), and held at Larrakeyah Barracks in Darwin, recognised employers who have been particulary supportive of their Reservist employees.
“Part-time members of the ADF make a significant contribution to Defence capability. Whether on operations at home or abroad our part-time forces are highly valued members of the ADF team. Part-time members of the ADF are also highly valued by their cilivan employers – for the diversity of their skills, and their leadership, and dedication,” Senator Feeney said.
“Employers who support their Reservist employees create a workplace where skills sharing and development – from both the civilian and military fields – is recognised and encouraged. This produces many benefits for the employee, the civilian employers, our Defence forces, and the local community.
“The support that employers in the Northern Territory and Kimberley provide to the ADF by releasing their employees to serve their country is outstanding and greatly appreciated by the Australian community.”
The Chairman of DRSC NT/K, and CEO of the NT Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chris Young said “employers who support their employees in the Reserves are not only helping one of their team, they are supporting Australia’s Defence effort.”
