The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator David Feeney, commended 27 South Australian employers who will spend the next three days at RAAF Base Edinburgh (27-29 October 2011) participating in Exercise Executive Stretch (EES).
“Exercise Executive Stretch provides employers with an opportunity to experience life as a Reservist,” Senator Feeney said.
“During the Exercise at RAAF Edinburgh employers will abseil, undertake decision making exercises and team building activities including water safety and night time operations.
Exercise Executive Stretch demonstrates the benefits of Reserve service to employers and supervisors. This program provides an insight into the commitment and challenges of being a Reservist.
“By participating in this Exercise, employers also demonstrate their support for Reservists and the broader Australian Defence Force community.
“It is pleasing to see so many South Australian employers involved in this exercise”, Senator Feeney said.
Employers represented include: the Department of Education and Children’s Services, St Aloysius College, Business SA, TAFE SA, and Lend Lease.
During the exercise, participants will also be briefed on Defence support programs which can assist in managing Reservist staff.
