Reappointment of Chair of the Victoria Council of the Defence Reserves Support Council
Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator the Hon David Feeney, today announced the reappointment of Mr Leigh Purnell as Chair of the Victoria State Council of the Defence Reserves Support Council (DRSC).
“Mr Purnell was first appointed Chair of the Victoria State Council of the DRSC in September 2008 and since that time has superbly led and managed an active and productive Council. His reappointment will strengthen the excellent work done by the Victoria State Council”, said Senator Feeney.
“I am very proud of the achievements of my Council since 2008 and I very much look forward to another three-year term supporting ADF Reservists and their employers. This is an exciting time for the Defence Reserves Support Council and I see the Council making considerable progress in developing support initiatives for Reservists, their families and their employers.” said Mr Purnell.
The Defence Reserves Support Council facilitates a flexible partnership with the community and employers to increase support for ADF Reserves.
There are State and Territory Councils in each State and Territory, and special committees in larger regional centres, such as Townsville. Council members are volunteers and include representatives from industry, small business, trade unions, youth and other interested community groups.
