Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Senator David Feeney has announced the appointment of Mark Todd as chair of the New South Wales State Council of the Defence Reserves Support Council (DRSC).
“Mr Todd has been an active member of the DRSC since 2008, initially as the Navy representative to the council and, since December 2010, as the deputy chair.
“His appointment as chair will strengthen the excellent work done by the NSW State Council,” Senator Feeney said.
Mr Todd said he was extremely honoured and proud to be appointed to a position that supports both Reservists and their employers.
“I look forward to promoting the benefits of Reserve service to the wider business community while simultaneously developing new partnerships that will contribute to Defence’s operational capability,” he said.
“This is particularly important at the moment with the high tempo of operations in many theatres around the world.”
There are state and territory councils of the DRSC and special committees in larger regional centres, such as Wagga Wagga and Townsville.
Council members are volunteers and include representatives from industry, small business, trade unions, youth and other interested community groups.
