Australian Air Force Cadet Officers from around the country are today meeting at RAAF Base Laverton to discuss new ways to better the Cadet organisation.
Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator David Feeney, launched the Conference and spoke with the Officers.
“The Gillard Government fully supports the Australian Air Force Cadets and acknowledges the difference the organisation makes to the lives of Cadets and how it prepares them for the future,” Senator Feeney said.
“The Australian Air Force Cadets and organisations like it provide a valuable service to Australia’s youth and as a consequence the government wants these organisations to grow.
“Youth development and educating the whole individual is a core philosophy of the Gillard Government but the Australian Defence Force Cadet program can’t do it on their own - community involvement is fundamental to the success of the program,” he said.
Senator Feeney also took the opportunity on behalf of Government to thank the more than 830 uniformed and 450 volunteer instructors involved in Australian Air Force Cadets activities throughout Australia for their tireless work providing a first-class youth development organisation open to all young Australians.
The Australian Air Force Cadets is a community-based youth development organisation that seeks to stimulate young Australians’ interests in both the Air Force and aviation in general, whilst providing them with the opportunity to develop their personal and team qualities within an aviation environment.
