Employers from the Northern Territory will this weekend join personnel of the Australian Defence Force for Exercise Executive Stretch.
Held at Larrakeyah Barracks, Robertson Barracks and RAAF Base Darwin, the Exercise will give employers the opportunity to see the abilities and tasks performed by their Reservist employees when they serve in the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
Employers include representatives from the City of Darwin, the ABC, the Northern Territory’s Department of Business and Employment, Mantra Group, Harvey Norman Furniture and other NT businesses.
The employers will also participate in a variety of military activities, including Navy water craft operations, boat capsize drills, unarmed combat, Royal Australian Air Force air operations, using night fighting devices, repelling and a live-fire range shoot.
Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator David Feeney, said the Exercise gave employers an insight into the work performed by their employees as Reserve members of the ADF.
“Over the course of the weekend, employers will witness the skills their employees gain as Reserve members of the ADF and how these skills might be transferred back to the civilian workplace.”
“Values learned by personnel of the ADF, such as leadership, motivation and teamwork are all directly beneficial to the civilian employers of Reservists too, so it is definitely a win-win scenario,” Senator Feeney said.
