The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator David Feeney, today announced the appointment of Mr Phil Moss as Chair of the Australian Capital Territory and South East New South Wales Committee of the Defence Reserves Support Council.
“Mr Moss is currently the Integrity Commissioner and head of the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity.
He has served in the RAAF Active Reserve since 1979 and has held a number of senior positions in the Australian Public Service.
Consequently, he brings to this appointment significant experience and an extensive personal network,” Senator Feeney said.
“As Chair of the Australian Capital Territory and South East New South Wales Committee of the Defence Reserves Support Council, Mr Moss’ association with Defence will enable him to provide strong leadership in expanding the work of the committee into new areas.
“Mr Moss has a detailed knowledge and understanding of the Defence Reserves. He understands the key relationships between Reservists, their employers and the community from which they are drawn.
“His leadership will be extremely beneficial for the Australian Capital Territory and South East New South Wales Committee,” said Senator Feeney.
The Defence Reserves Support Council facilitates a flexible partnership between the community, employers and Reservists to support Australian security.
Each State and Territory has committees of the Council and some also have committees in larger regional centres, such as Townsville.
Council members are volunteers and include representatives from industry, small business, trade unions, youth and other interested community groups.
