The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator David Feeney, has congratulated the 24 employers from New South Wales recognised for their support of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Reserves.
Organised by the New South Wales Defence Reserves Support Council (DRSC) and held at the Navy Heritage Centre, Garden Island, the ceremony recognised employers who have supported their Reservist employees either by developing a supportive leave policy or by releasing them for military service.
Rodney Cavalier, Chair of the New South Wales DRSC, was joined by Head Cadet, Reserve and Employer Support Division Major General Paul Brereton in thanking the employers.
“These awards clearly demonstrate the value Defence places on the importance of our relationship with employers of Reservists. Working closely with employers and building mutual understanding is critical,” Major General Brereton said.
Senator Feeney passed his congratulations on the award recipients.
“Without the support of employers, such as those represented at these awards, it would not be possible for Reservists to harmonise their civilian and uniformed roles and provide the great service that they do,” Senator Feeney said.
