- Federal Member for Leichardt, the Hon Warren Entsch MP
The Australian Defence Force will use home-grown Australian equipment to keep Australians on the front line safe from chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.
Leidos Australia will partner with a Cairns small business to deliver the equipment, proving the Australian defence industry is producing world-class capabilities right here at home.
Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Melissa Price MP, and Federal Member for Leichhardt, the Hon Warren Entsch MP, announced local company J3Seven had the secured $17 million contract with Leidos Australia.
“This is a great investment in the Australian defence industry and highlights how Aussie ingenuity is keeping our armed forces safe,” Minister Price said.
“J3Seven will provide capabilities including radiation detectors and incident response kits to protect our soldiers.”
Mr Entsch congratulated J3Seven on securing the contract, and said it indicated the depth and capability of the defence industry in Far North Queensland.
“This is another example of how the Morrison Government’s investment in Australia’s defence industry is creating new opportunities and more jobs in regional areas for small businesses like J3Seven in Cairns,” Mr Entsch said.
“I encourage more local businesses to think about how they can take part in the Morrison Government’s record $200 billion build-up of military capability.”
