Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, today encouraged defence industry employees to apply for the 2018 Defence & Industry Study Course (DISC) by 16 February.

Minister Pyne said DISC is a highly commended course that focuses on capability development, acquisition and sustainment.

“Participants will see demonstrations of the latest military equipment, engage with Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel with recent operational experience, and visit Defence bases, and industry manufacturing and technology facilities,” Minister Pyne said.

“This flagship course provides participants with the opportunity to learn first-hand the challenges and issues that influence our defence and industry sectors, including the workflow and planning processes of industry, and the impact Defence decisions and processes have on industry.

“One of the aims of the DISC is to strengthen relationships and networks between participants, in particular among Defence public servants, ADF members and industry executives.

“I encourage all eligible industry employees to apply for this outstanding opportunity.”

Nominations for DISC are highly competitive with industry participants selected to represent a number of sectors, states, territories and company size.

Applications should be submitted by 16 February online at: www.defence.gov.au/CASG/DISC

The Defence and Industry Study Course (DISC) and its predecessor, the Industrial Mobilisation Course, have been run annually by Defence since 1954.
