Minister for Defence Senator the Hon Marise Payne will visit the United States from 11 to 15 October 2015 to attend the annual Australia-US Ministerial Conference (AUSMIN) in Boston with Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop .
The Australia-US alliance is fundamental to Australia's Defence and security strategy. The consultations with US Secretary of State John Kerry and US Secretary for Defense Ashton Carter will provide the opportunity to discuss a range of regional and global security challenges and further strengthen our relationship.
While in the United States Minister Payne will also meet with a number of senior Defence and security experts, and senior executives from the Defence industry.
The Minister will travel to Washington for the 75th Anniversary of Australia-US diplomatic relations and will also attend a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
