The Government today confirmed the continued progress on the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Workplace Remuneration Arrangement (WRA).
The Assistant Minister for Defence, Stuart Robert announced that an agreed Commonwealth position on remuneration will be taken to the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal (DFRT) on 15 October 2014.
“The Government has been actively pursuing the complex negotiations associated with the new Arrangement to ensure it is in place when the existing arrangements expire,” Mr Robert said.
Mr Robert confirmed the proposed WRA submitted today to the independent DFRT, will see salary increases for more than 70,000 ADF Permanent Force and Reserve members from 6 November 2014.
“The new WRA, if agreed by the independent DFRT, will deliver a salary increase for our troops. Ultimately, our personnel are our nation’s most important military capability and supporting them is my highest priority,” Mr Robert said.
“In an environment of fiscal restraint I have taken a considered, methodical approach to this process which balances the Government’s remuneration policy with recognition of the unique nature of military service.”
