The Federal Government has announced a nation-wide search for new members of the Defence Honours and Awards Appeals Tribunal.
Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Darren Chester said advertisements would appear in daily newspapers this weekend, seeking applicants with a diverse range of skills.
“Five of the inaugural members of the tribunal will finish their appointments in July this year and the government is seeking applications from experienced professionals from all sections of the Australian community,” Mr Chester said.
“Applicants should have the ability to review and make strategic decisions through constructive questioning and analysis of information, as well as good interpersonal skills.
“It’s important that members of the tribunal also have a legal background or have experience in administrative law decision making, and proven experience in at least one of historical, military or independent professional fields.”
The 10-member tribunal is an independent statutory body established under the Defence Act 1903 to consider defence honours and awards issues. All positions are part-time.
“The new members will be well respected in their professional capacity, not necessarily in defence or veterans areas, and have proven experience in making high level decisions and recommendations,” Mr Chester said.
All enquiries for the positions should be directed to Amanda O’Rourke Executive Services who can be contacted via e-mail at admin@amandaorourke.com.au quoting Ref. No. 401.
Applications close on Friday 14 February 2014.
