Assistant Minister for Defence Stuart Robert MP today officially opened the newly relocated Defence Force Recruiting Centre in Canberra’s CBD.
The new centre, servicing a large area across the ACT and South East NSW, is designed to suit the increasing interest in the local region for a job in the Navy, Army or Air Force.
The new and larger centre will be a valuable asset to the local community as well as contributing to the defence of Australia and its national interests.
“The highlight today was having a chance to speak to the ADF’s newest Recruits,” Mr Robert said.
“One of them even noted he might, in the future, become the Chief of the Defence Force.
“Today they start a journey that is filled with excitement, challenges and opportunities. Tomorrow they will be our nation’s leaders.
“To the parents, other family and friends of these newest Recruits: your sons, daughters, loved ones and friends are stepping off today into a different world. It is fitting therefore that we thank the staff here at Defence Force Recruiting for their hard work in assisting them live their dream of serving in the Australian Defence Force.”
