Australian Army Command Support System (AUSTACSS)
- AUSTACSS is designed to enhance the Australian Army's warfighting capability
by enabling commanders to more effectively fight tactical land operations.
It consists of a computer network with specialist software packages to
deliver an integrated command support system for operational and tactical
planning and communications.
- The system provides the necessary network to allow critical information
to be gained and interpreted about the enemy in a quick and timely manner.
This allows the best use of our forces and assists them to maintain the
initiative.
- The 1st Brigade in Darwin will be equipped in the latter part of this
decade and user feedback will be used to enhance software functionality
and further refine later versions of the system. Further development and
fielding of the system will continue into the early part of the next decade.
- Celsius Tech Australia is the prime contractor for delivery of the
system.
