Specific responsibilities allocated to Mr Combet are:

Assisting the Minister for Defence on:

• The Defence Materiel Organisation
• The efficiency and effectiveness of major capital equipment acquisition
• Detailed analysis of and advice to the Minister on acquisition and sustainment issues
• Contracting matters generally
• Defence industry policy and maximising Australian industry involvement
• Defence exports
• The Skilling Australia Defence Industry Program
