HEADQUARTERS JOINT OPERATIONS COMMAND PROJECT HONOURED WITH national AWARD

 

The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Support, the Hon Dr Mike Kelly AM MP today announced that the Defence Headquarters Joint Operations Command project has been honoured at the Australian Institute of Project Management’s national Project Management Achievement Awards, 2009. The awards for outstanding achievement were announced at an event in Adelaide on Tuesday 13 October 2009.

 

“I congratulate the Defence project team and their industry partners on their management of the Headquarters Joint Operations Command project which has been honoured at the Australian Institute of Project Management’s national Project Management Achievement Awards 2009 in the category of Construction/Engineering (projects over $100 million),” Dr Kelly said.

 

The Headquarters Joint Operations Command facility near Bungendore was completed on time and on budget in 2008 and was officially opened by the Prime Minister on 7 March 2009.

 

“The awards honour outstanding achievements in project and program management and promote innovation and best practice,” Dr Kelly said.

 

“This project was the first Public Private Partnership by the Australian Government for the construction and maintenance of a facility on a greenfield site and previously won the Infrastructure Partnerships Australia’s 2009 National Infrastructure Award's Project of the Year and 2009 ACT Chapter Australian Institute of Project Management Achievement Awards,” Dr Kelly said.
