HEADQUARTERS JOINT OPERATIONS COMMAND PROJECT – COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION

The Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Support, the Hon. Dr Mike Kelly AM MP, today announced that the new Headquarters Joint Operations Command facility at Bungendore, NSW, had been delivered to Defence by Praeco Pty Ltd on time and budget. 

“Praeco has provided a facility that is environmentally friendly and sustainable,” Dr Kelly said.  “Significant attention has been paid to self sufficiency, especially in terms of water use and power. 

Dr Kelly congratulated Praeco on a fine achievement and said that the facility would provide the Chief of the Defence Force with a world class platform for the command and control of the Australian Defence Force on operations around the world and within Australia. 

The facility has been delivered under public private partnership arrangements and, from today, Defence will be providing an annual service payment to Praeco for the next 28 years for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the facility. 

At the end of this period, the facility will be owned by the Commonwealth.

The next phase of the Project is the installation of all the information and communication systems by Defence into the facility.
