Bankwest last night won the Employer of the Year Award from the Western Australia Defence Reserves Support Council (DRSC).
Employers and Reservists were recognised at a ceremony at the South of Perth Yacht Club in Applecross, Western Australia.
Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator David Feeney, congratulated the winner and all employers who were recognised for their support of Australian Defence Force Reserves.
“The Employer of the Year Award recognises the great work of Bankwest to make a workplace that supports Reserve members of the Australian Defence Force,” Senator Feeney said.
“The support of employers is essential. By ensuring flexibility for Reservists in the workplace, employers make it possible for Reservists to serve part time in the Australian Defence Force.
“Currently there are more than 74 Western Australian Reservists in the Solomon Islands, helping maintain peace and stability in that country. I thank both the employers and Reservists who work with us,” he said.
The awards recognise private sector and government employers who have been particularly supportive of their Reservist employees.
DRSC WA Council Chair, Professor Murray Lampard, said the recognition was well deserved.
Reserve Service Excellence Presentations were also given to 23 Navy, Army and Air Force West Australian Reservists in recognition of their service.
